Peer Review Process

The publication of articles in Paramartha: Journal of Islamic Guidance and Counselling in Education depends solely on the scientific validity, originality, and coherence of the work as assessed by the editors and peer reviewers. Reviewers also evaluate the clarity of writing and the contribution of the work to the field of Islamic Guidance and Counselling in Education. The journal greatly values the dedication and constructive feedback provided by its reviewers.

Initial Evaluation of Manuscripts

All submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief within 14 days. At this stage, manuscripts may be:

  • Accepted directly (in rare cases, for exceptional quality manuscripts).

  • Rejected due to lack of originality, serious methodological flaws, plagiarism, or being outside the scope of the journal.

  • Forwarded to peer review if they meet the minimum requirements.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two expert reviewers. The initial review process usually takes 14–30 days.

Type of Peer Review

This journal applies a double-blind peer review process, meaning that both reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other throughout the review process. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise in the field of Islamic guidance, counselling, psychology, or education.

Review Reports

Reviewers are asked to assess the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  • Originality: Clear objectives, novelty, and significance of the study.

  • Methodological soundness: Appropriateness and rigor of the methods used.

  • Ethical compliance: Adherence to ethical research and publication standards.

  • Results and findings: Clarity in presentation, accuracy of analysis, and relevance to the research objectives.

  • References: Proper citation of relevant and up-to-date scholarly works.

Reviewers are not expected to provide extensive language editing or copyediting. Language improvement is the responsibility of the author(s).

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revision.

  • Accept with minor revisions.

  • Revise and resubmit (major revisions required).

  • Reject.

The final decision lies with the Editor-in-Chief, and in some cases, consultation with the Editorial Board may be required. The peer review and editorial decision process typically takes 30–60 days.
