Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
This is the statement of ethics for Paramartha: Journal of Islamic Guidance and Counselling in Education, published by DPPM Universitas Pelita Bangsa. This statement is adapted from the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and outlines the ethical code for the Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Board members, Reviewers, and Authors.
Articles published in Paramartha are an essential contribution to the development of a coherent and respected body of knowledge in the field of Islamic Guidance and Counselling in Education. They directly reflect the quality of the work of the authors and their institutions. Therefore, it is crucial to establish standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and readers.
The editors of Paramartha are committed to ensuring that all editorial procedures are conducted with fairness, objectivity, and integrity. Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, without discrimination based on race, gender, religious belief, ethnicity, citizenship, or political orientation.
Duties of Authors

Ensure that their submission is an original work and has not been previously published.

Avoid submitting manuscripts that are under consideration elsewhere.

Refrain from reproducing work already published in other journals.

Submit their work to other journals only after receiving an official rejection or upon approval of withdrawal by this journal.

Report any errors or inaccuracies discovered in their published work to the Editor-in-Chief so that corrections or retractions can be made.

Confirm that all listed authors have made significant contributions to the work and share responsibility for its content.
Duties of Reviewers

Disclose any conflicts of interest before agreeing to review a manuscript.

Decline a review request if the manuscript topic is beyond their expertise or if there is a conflict of interest.

Review all submissions objectively, fairly, and professionally.

Report any ethical misconduct, such as plagiarism or redundant publication, to the Editor-in-Chief.

Respect the confidentiality of the review process and not discuss the manuscript without permission.

Complete reviews within the allocated time or promptly notify the Editor-in-Chief if an extension is needed.
Duties of Editorial Board Members

Contribute actively to the development and improvement of the journal.

Duties of the Editor-in-Chief

Evaluate manuscripts based solely on their academic merit.

Ensure the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and related correspondence.

Make final decisions on which articles will be published.

Seek input from the Editorial Board, reviewers, and authors to enhance the quality and visibility of the journal.
